AVAILABLE BREEDING PAIRS SPECIALLY SELECTED FOR BREEDING PURPOSES:
The key is to breed cows that have the bovine chondrodysplasia gene (chondro positive), with cows that don’t have that particular gene (chondro negative). The chondro gene creates shortened legs, but breeding two positives can be fatal for the calves. Each of our breeding pairs is a mixture of chondro+ & chondro-(Positive and Negative).

Can brother and sister cows breed?
Mating of cows that are close relatives (brother-sister, sire-daughter, son-dam) produces high levels of inbreeding. Inbreeding generally is detrimental to long-term reproductive performance and growth. Highly inbred cattle are also more susceptible to environmental stress and health problems.
We have been methodically reducing size to mini and micro mini sized for over 15 years.

Chondro status is a genetic test that determines the size of a mini cow. Chondro positive cows will have shorter legs making them a micro-mini cow. Chondro negative cows will usually fall in the mini to mid-size range. However when breeding, you cannot breed two chondro positive animals together.
Breeding cows that are both chondro postitive needs to be avoided to prevent lethal bulldog calf defects.
